Senior Risk Management Consultant

Role Overview:

The Senior Risk Management Consultant is a seasoned professional liability risk expert who delivers high-value consultation, education, and risk mitigation guidance to MICA’s insureds — physicians, other healthcare professionals, and the organizations in which they practice. This role is central to MICA’s mission of helping policyholders reduce liability exposure, promote patient safety, and strengthen the defense of claims should they arise.

Reporting to the Director of Risk Management, the Senior Consultant serves as a primary point of contact for insureds seeking guidance on complex clinical, legal, and operational risk issues. This role brings advanced expertise in medical professional liability, healthcare law, or clinical practice to bear in every policyholder interaction — providing research-based, practical guidance that reflects MICA’s commitment to policyholder value.

Beyond direct consulting, the Senior Risk Management Consultant serves as a thought leader, identifies emerging risks, shapes educational strategy, and guides the development of resources that improve policyholder outcomes.  This role collaborates with Claims, Underwriting, and Marketing to address evolving risk concerns, elevates the quality and consistency of services delivered by the broader Risk Management team, and supports MICA’s long-term risk mitigation objectives. The Senior Consultant serves as a mentor to less experienced consultants and may lead strategic projects and initiatives as assigned.
