Reporting a Claim
What to report: Occurrences, Claims and Lawsuits
Occurrence is an event or series of events resulting in injury, neither intended nor expected
from the standpoint of the insured, which may give rise to a claim. Claims are demands for
damages or a complaint, lawsuit, demand for arbitration or other legal process served on an
insured.
How to report: By Telephone
Report all claims, occurrences and lawsuits immediately: Reporting triggers your coverage, and
by reporting immediately, you may be able to recall important details that could be important
in helping your case.
The first report of a claim must be made by telephone. Do not send an initial report of a
claim via e-mail, FAX or in writing.
